Just wondering what everyone else finds to be the most successful way of introducing new songs to your audience. I'm big on not playing the same old stuff all the time, but I do like to keep the floor going.

I usualy slip them in between floor fillers, keeping in mind the music should still flow together.

But in what kind of a ratio do you find to work well and do you think different parts of the night work better or worse?

No formula there since it's different for each place and night. It's just a matter of getting a feeling of your audience and how to work them. Not the greatest answer to you question but for me it's the truth.

Also keep in mind that things like CD release parties work really well in introducing new music. And don't punk out by only playing a song or two of the new release, play all the songs if at all possible throughout the night. And make sure to get the opinions of the attendees on which songs they liked. That's gold when it comes to gauging what new music to play for them.

Yeah, thanks. I've been in the scene for quite a few years so I do try to gauge what to play by knowing the tastes of the people actually there on any given night.

I used to DJ about five years ago at a few clubs, but it's only been a few months since I jumped back into it. I know I've always heard good response from people as far as them liking to hear new music. I just wonder about trying to balance it out to keep the dance floor going and keep everyone happy and coming back.

          Anyway, thanks for your thoughts.
