So....what do you spin with? What do play? CDs? Vinyl? Cassette? Do you have a mixer you love? Do you just show up and use whatever the venue is set up with?

Well I just use what the club provides and just bring my CDs and headphones. At home I've got my own little studio set-up:

Numark CD Mix-2 (has yet to fail me in 3 years)
    2 JBL Eon G10s
    Behringer Eurorack UB1622FX-Pro
    Dell Dimention 4300 (loaded)
    Virtual DJ Pro
    Sound Forge 6.0
    Lots of CDs and MP3s

And if I have to provide my own I just take the Numark, one of the Eons for a monitor and use my JBL TR225 speakers, QSC amp and a BBE 462.

your at home set up sounds a lot like mine!

the numark does rule, and I love Sound Forge to mess with/edit MP3s on....

I can't believe Fennis is asking about equipment and means technological machinery....
I use what the house has unless they only have cds. so far I've only had to rent a few times. the worst is when they have 2 cd players and only 1 turntable - I don't have enough cds to play a whole night like that. slowly transferring some of the more vital stuff.
K-7 would rock, but almost nobody has one hooked up to the mixer and PA.

I have a home system set up with the following goodies:

    Numark DM1200 4-channel Mixer
    Numark CDN-88 Dual CD Player
2 Numark TTX1 Turntables with Stanton GrooveMaster II cartridges

I absolutely love those TTX1 tables, they rock and have some really cool features. They are also built like a friggin tank. In October 2002, I slipped and broke my ankle while carrying equipment to a gig I was supposed to do that evening. One of my TTX1 tables was in my hands at the time and it hit the ground at least as hard as I did. I had orthopedic surgery and 4 months of recovery while my turntable did not suffer a single scratch.

I used to have Technics 1220 Mk2 turntables at one point and have used them in lots of clubs. I really think the TTX1 is a much better unit.

I love spinning vinyl but also have to deal with CD. I just love the way vinyl sounds and feels, it is what I learned to spin with and I am most comfortable with it. Unfortunately, a fair amount of the music I spin is not on vinyl and is only available on CD. Of course, some of my vinyl never made it to CD so I basically have to use both to spin the full catalog.

2 pairs of Denon 9000s (4 cd players)
      Pioneer DJM-600 pro mixer
      Pioneer EFX-1000
and a few Crown CE-1000 amps.

If I am just doing a normal night at a club I work with what they have, but if its going to be a big night/special event, I bring my stuff and hook into their set-up
