Anti-static mat! Interesting! Didn't know they existed!

Yeah, for spinning live, who cares, but if I'm making someone a CD, I don't want scratchy vocals and static.

last time I had my turntable fixed, the guy said the single best thing I could do to improve sound quality was use an anti-static mat. not that I care about sound quality....
if there's a weight issue, it's more likely too heavy than too light.

Hmmm....I hate that scratchy, static sound that happens as the stylus reaches the grooves towards the end of a record. Ostensibly a new stylus would prevent this, so long as the vinyl itself is in good shape, but why does it happen on certain brand-new pressings anyway? Is it a stylus weight issue? Too light? Too heavy? The kind of stylus I use?

I've noticed on some of my pals' systems this doesn't happen, clear as CD sound all the way through the record...
